Oye Happy Go Lucky Oye

The Never Ending Pursuit of Happiness
Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing. Smile is the beginning of peace.
Mother Teresa

Happiness can be defined as the emotional balance sheet we keep that allows us to say honestly whether we’re living a happy life, in spite of unfavorably events happening in between. The biggest confusion in the present times is the search for permanent happiness, as we have started realizing that material gadgets are short term joys and relationships have high failure rates. So how do we find our lasting happiness?

According to Gallup Survey on Global Happiness 2010, life satisfaction, rises with personal and national income. But positive feelings, which also increase somewhat as income rises, are much more strongly associated with other factors, such as feeling respected, having autonomy and social support, and working at a fulfilling job. The study also reported that one sees a quite strong correlation around the world between income and happiness, but on the other hand it's quite shocking how small correlation money has with positive feelings and enjoying yourself.

With our thoughts we make the world. Speak or act with a pure mind and happiness will follow you, as your shadow unshaken. ~

According to General Social Surveys done in USA by National Opinion Research Centre, the difference between happy and unhappy Americans, is a life that reflects values and practices like faith, hard work, marriage, charity, and freedom. The researches further point out that what matters most for happiness is not having a lot of things but having healthy values and without them the life will bring only soulless toil and joyless riches.

Dr Daisaku Ikeda, Buddhist Leader says, “Viewing events and situations in a positive light is important. The strength, wisdom and cheerfulness that accompany such an attitude lead to happiness.”

Happiness is sometihing which we all deserve. Lisa Nichols says, “You are the creator of your own destiny. No one else can dance your dance, no one else can sing your song, no one else can write your story. You deserve to be happy. You were born to add something, to add value to this world. To simply be something bigger and better than you were yesterday.”

One of the ways of finding happiness is of course a fulfilling career. Henry Ford says, “There is joy in work. There is no happiness except in the realization that we have accomplished something.” Happiness is after all  a by-product of a well-lived life, and can be achieved through the pursuit of meaningful endeavors.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way. Happiness is a HABIT - one needs to cultivate it. Instant gratification gives us only short lived happiness. Stephen Knapps says, “Material joys are like soda pop pleasures. As soon as the soda pop is finished, the tingle is gone." There is a life beyond. Let us discover. The researchers at Surrey University, UK who conducted a happiness survey, have concluded that although Britons are rich compared with most other countries, many Britons suffer from an emotional poverty caused by consumerism and the breakdown of family life.

So start your search for lasting happiness and once you discover it you will always have an angelic smile on your face. As they say, "The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything but they make the most of everything."

Three Principles of Happy Living (1) Be complaint free: Take 100% responsibility for your own happiness (2) Be grateful: Learn to appreciate the inherently perfect cosmic gift that is the now (3) Be unruffled: Learn to see the Divine order and balance and non-seriousness in all possible events.
