"Lessons in Authenticity" and other Mini Stories

Lessons in authenticity....from unexpected quarters Challenging our own beliefs is probably the toughest lifelong battle. Nearly two years back when I was struggling as an entrepreneur, an unexpected lesson came from unexpected quarters. I was sitting with a successful webpreneur who is a good friend. I shared with him that I wanted to migrate from professor mode to entrepreneur mode and requested his guidance to do the same. And pat came the most surprising reply. He told me, "Just be yourself. I made the same mistake you are planning to. I am a techie and I wanted to move to entrepreneur mode. So I started behaving like a salesperson to sell my services. Understanding the Inner and Outer Self

Japan and India-Personal Branding from Two Angles Peter Sterlacci-The Japanese Angle The Secret to Understanding the Japanese Personal Brand  When I was first introduced to personal branding I learned two things. First, everyone has a personal brand whether we realize it or not. Second, our brands are based on how others perceive us or as William Arruda says, they are "held in the hearts and minds of others." I also discovered that strong brands are based in authenticity and only by being true and genuine can we truly differentiate ourselves and deliver on our unique promise of value.  The Outer and Inner Self in Japan  Authentic, true, and genuine. While these words are at the core of any personal branding process they present a very interesting challenge in accurately understanding personal brands in Japan.  For the Japanese, there are two mindsets called 'tatemae' (建前) and ' honne' (本音).  Tatemae, literally meanin...

Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam*  Interview Series (Global Thought Leaders who have Enlarged, Excelled and Evolved into Global Personal Brands) Area of Thought Leadership -Integral Coaching Dr Amit Nagpal-Tell us something about Centre for Courageous Authenticity in leadership. Goodnews Cadogan -The Centre for Courageous Authenticity in Leadership was born out of my experience (shared with that of my co-directors, Ms Vuyokazi Menye : CIO at the Mondi Group & Ms Ntombekhaya Dayimani , Supply Director at Sandoz Pharmaceuticals) with many leaders displaying lack of courage to execute their mandate, in the face of resistance. Our mission at the CCAL is, through our quarterly advocacy seminars, to raise the level of awareness of the contribution of lack of leadership courage, to the ineffectiveness of leadership in ...
