The Invisible Tamasha; The Battle Within

The highest level of integrity is achieved when you stop fooling yourself. Anonymous

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.
Mahatma Gandhi

Integrity means that one has developed into a person whose thoughts, words, and actions are congruent (and therefore do not conflict with each other) and conform to ethical principles. Our decisions when ridden with inner conflicts reveal the degree of disorder in our soul. Once we bring every aspect of our self into harmony, we can live according to our convictions.

That is why exercising prudent judgment is the ultimate skill in living the good life--doing the right thing, in the right way, at the right time, for the right reason. Those who do not live a life of integrity, live a disordered and chaotic life. A wonderful quote on importance of integrity is 'It is better to have an enemy who keeps his word, than a friend who does not.'

Integrity is also having values, being consistent with one's values or belief system, not wavering due to outside influences and standing strong in how one should live and believe. Once I jokingly wrote on Facebook, “Materialism pleases the body, spiritualism pleases the soul, intellectualism pleases the mind, and emotion pleases the heart. My body is pulling me to matter, soul is pulling me to the supreme spirit, and the heart has got pulled in this tug of war while my naughty mind is just watching the tirade (tamasha) with no intent to help."

Then to resolve the conflict, I apply integrity in my life and I posted another note on Facebook, “My soul has been designated as the Boss and mind, body and heart have accepted its leadership. The tug of war is over and the peace will be everlasting.” The question arises why our soul needs to be the boss. The answer is human mind may be narrow and human heart weak, human body may be temporary, but human soul is omnipotent...all powerful.

“The silent battles of life are fought out daily in the silent chambers of the soul. If you win the battles there, if you settle the issues that inwardly conflict, you feel a sense of peace, a sense of knowing what you are about.”
David O Mckay

As integrity takes over our life, the inner conflict starts disappearing and the peace, the bliss takes over giving us, absolute and supreme happiness.
