The Sub-conscious and Deepest Passion

"You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle."

Self-Reflection with the help of meditation is the best way to discover our true and deepest passion. During meditation the conscious mind gets silent. As a result, we are able to hear the sub-conscious mind or we can say that the sub-conscious gets activated. If you feel more comfortable with self reflection or plain contemplation or sitting silently surrounded by nature rather than meditation, it is very much fine. The goal is to silence the conscious mind and any tool is fine as long as the goal is achieved.

Conscious mind is needed by human beings but it should be treated like a servant. Since most of the population does not know how to activate and utilize the enormous power of sub-conscious, the conscious mind runs the show. No wonder Albert Einstein said, “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

One precaution which we need to take is that hurry does not work here and rather spoils the curry. If one gets stressed and too focused on silencing the mind, the objective can never be achieved. Sub-conscious mind can never be activated under stress or if surrounded by negative energy. If we observe our breath or deeply listen to a person or music, we can slow down the conscious mind and then slowly we will be able to remain thoughtless for an increasing duration. Connecting with the best (or sub-conscious) takes the best of our efforts.

Once the chatter of conscious mind is gone, then only our subconscious mind can help us with its intuitive capabilities. It provides us the wisdom, intuition and clarity of thinking to find out what we truly want though some people can be blessed with the idea (passion or life mission) coming as a flash of light during the meditation session.

Remember the magic formula PPP or Triple P viz. Passion, Persistence and Patience. Remember to enjoy the journey and don’t focus too much on reaching the destination. Be persistent and have patience, results will surely come and I promise you they will be astounding.

When you have found your true passion, you will feel amazing excitement and feel as if you are bursting with energy. You will get fully immersed in work, lose track of the world and time and the output which will come through such work shall be world class or outstanding. Dr Daisaku Ikeda says, “Those who wake up each morning with work to accomplish and a mission to fulfill are the happiest people of all. Please exert yourselves vigorously with the determination to live each day to the fullest so that you may compose a golden diary of life.”
