"From Fashion to Passion" is a mini-interview series with passionate entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs from India.

 Saurabh and Rahul Maheshwari are the third generation entrepreneurs carrying forward the legacy of Vishal Jewels. Here is an interview with Saurabh Maheshwari. 


The Back Story
Vishal Jewels was founded by visionary Mr. Radhey Shyam Maheshwari in 1944. The first jewellery store was opened in Chandni Chowk area of Delhi and the premium jewellery showroom came up in Greater Kailash-1, M block Market, New Delhi. Since then Vishal Jewels has been manufacturing and retailing diamond and precious colour stone jewellery ranging from rings, bracelets and bangles, to pendant sets, necklace sets and beyond. 

For 3 generations, Vishal Jewels has been serving families all over India and has been entrusted with their Jewellery requirements for all occasions including weddings / engagement or gifts for special occasions. Vishal Jewels has been Government of India’s approved valuers and has been a member of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council and GJF. Over the years it has also been participating in major gem & jewellery exhibitions worldwide.

Vishal Jewels' set ups in Mumbai and Delhi have made it possible to offer the best craftsmanship and designs with exacting standards to clients in rubies, emeralds, pearls studded with diamonds.  The focus remains on current trends and styles while designing and manufacturing, so as to ensure the exclusivity of the design and client delight.

Dr Amit Nagpal-You have an excellent educational background including schooling at Modern School, Barakhamba Road (New Delhi). What aspect of your business, you are passionate about ?
 
Saurabh Maheshwari-The trust of our customers in our ability to visualize what they are looking for in terms of the product and the emotions attached with the purchase decision, driving us to deliver the best that they could have dreamt of, while keeping their budget considerations in our mind. This aspect of our business makes it more exciting for us due to the responsibility entrusted by our customer on us for giving them, what they want.

Along with this, our LEGACY of over 75 years and being a 3rd generation jeweler, puts in a lot of faith and motivation in me to take this forward to newer heights.

Dr Amit-What job / opportunity did you leave to follow your passion?
Saurabh- The dream job of working in the marketing division of a leading telecom giant of our country after completing my B.E in Telecom and MBA (Marketing)

Dr Amit-What has been your biggest achievement till now?
Saurabh- I can’t quantify any one achievement, but since entering my family business about 8 years ago, the designing aesthetics and visual appeal of our master pieces have changed, bringing in a lot of appreciation from our customers. 

So I can say that my own personal achievements in my business include bringing in a more modern and structured approach to our designing of jewellery including operational efficiency, thus helping more young customers come aboard, Vishal Jewels.
