Let Positivity Go Viral

My workshop participants frequently ask me, “How do I make my content go viral?” My answer, "Forget about making your content viral and focus on adding value to peoples' lives and Universe will bless you with what you deserve. Bhagwad Geeta says, "Do the work and forget about the fruit" Even if you look at it scientifically, "When we worry about the fruit, we shift our focus and energy from the goal to the fruit, and (due to energy and focus loss) often end up failing."
Recently while addressing Founders of Startups at an event (at Startup Saturday Gurgaon, organised by Headstart Network Foundation), I shared the essence of what I have learnt in the past decade of my digital journey,
"Stop trying to make your content viral. Post and create each social media update with love instead. Share stories from the heart. Spread unconditional love and believe in the magic of unconditional love spreading on its own.
Focus on emotionally connecting with your audience rather than virality. Let us focus on being human and making our interactions human to human as much as possible."
What touches the heart naturally gets shared
Focus on touching the hearts of people, focus on inspiring people and changing lives. If we focus on the right cause with right intent, the Universe extends its support.
My observation is that high energy, simple, story format, soulful and spontaneous content tends to be shared more (I call it 'limited virality). I have developed 5S Framework to support and inspire those who wish to spread love and positivity in the world through social and digital media viz Supercharge, Simplicity, Storytelling, Soulfulness and Spontaneity.
Controversy vs Causes
When Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone openly talked about 'depression', most of us brushed it under the carpet and few shared the cause which needs attention especially of Indian society. Yet when she talked about 'My Choice', some of us loved and some of us hated it. And the video soon got viral attracting spoof videos and debates.
It made me wonder whether controversy goes viral faster than causes. Why don't we make positivity go viral, why not make the passionate work many of us do go viral? I admire Deepika for openly talking about her depression and for taking up a very crucial social cause.
What fires me is changing lives

Let our social media updates contribute to a better India and better world. Let the messages filled with love and positivity spread like fire, let us make the good causes go viral. Influencing is not enough, what fires me is changing lives, for the betterIn simple words, let love/ positivity and deep passion for our work go viral.

"When we care for others our own strength to live increases. When we help people expand their state of life, our lives also expand. Actions to benefit others are not separate from actions to benefit oneself. Our lives and the lives of others are ultimately inseparable."
